Welcome from the Pastor

Welcome! I’m Jamie Dale,the pastor of Brown Woodbrook (or the Rev. James W. Dale if you’re into formality). I’ve been here since December 2005 working among a fabulous group of people.

I love to hear stories, and to tell them. I figure that if Jesus could tell stories, I can’t improve on that. My intent is to cultivate an atmosphere in which questions are welcome, and the only enemy of faith is close-minded certainty. That said, I also believe our faith must flow from scripture. So in teaching and preaching I try very hard to understand the Bible first in its own context, before trying to see what it might mean for us. And I try to pay attention to what the text actually says, as distinct from what we say it means or what we’d like it to mean.
