Brown Memorial Weekday School

Recently voted Best Preschool in Baltimore by Maryland Family Magazine’s Parent Choice Awards, the Brown Memorial Weekday School has been in operation since 1963. Brown Memorial Weekday School is a Preschool and Kindergarten program serving children between the ages of 2 and 6 from several communities in the greater Baltimore area. Built to be a preschool and with the specific needs of young children in mind, the classrooms are large, filled with natural light and include child-sized bathrooms, counters and sinks. The school’s extensive outdoor space includes both of state-of-the-art playground equipment and open, grassy areas, hills, woods and a stream for the healthy development of children. The school is approved by the Maryland Department of Education.

Our programs are guided by the understanding that every child is capable and eager to learn. Our focus is on building a supportive partnership with parents to ensure joyful learning for every child. To fulfill each child’s potential, a rich variety of activities and experiences are provided. Our highly trained, experienced teachers endeavor to create a warm, accepting atmosphere in which children feel secure and are able to learn. With the help we seek from parents and by means of a curriculum that is sensitive to individual development, teachers guide each child’s growth. Children are encouraged to explore, create, imagine and build understandings through their relationships with peers, teachers and materials. Our classroom environments are carefully prepared to foster the development of independence, higher order thinking and confidence. Quality art materials and open-ended creative experiences are part of each day. Story-telling and the reading of rich children’s literature are also part of each school day. Emphasis is placed equally on academic, social, emotional and physical development.
