Hatha Yoga in the Svaroopa® Style with Myrna Carpenter

Beginning October 3rd, Mondays at 5:30 PM in Rehoboth Place.

Svaroopa® Yoga (“svah-ROO-pah” — often referred to as “bliss yoga”) is a unique yoga style that uses traditional Hatha poses, breathing practices and meditation to improve spinal alignment. By releasing the muscles around the tailbone, through the sacrum and lumbar vertebrae, and along the rest of the spine up through the shoulders and neck, tension throughout the entire body dissipates and the body becomes supple and flexible. Despite the relative ease of the poses, Svaroopa® Yoga has a profound effect upon the body, mind and spirit and catalyzes powerful healing and transformation.

The emphasis is on gentle release to melt away stress and tightness that builds up along the spinal column from the tailbone to the skull. This focus encourages transformation of the body, mind, and spirit and leads to opening up your core, to profound healing, and to serenity. Svaroopa® Yoga enables students to find this state within themselves and to become skilled at accessing it on their own.

Unlike other yoga styles, you do not do Svaroopa® Yoga. Rather, Svaroopa® Yoga works on you. It is not exercise. It is not about sweat. It is about transformation of body, mind and spirit. By releasing into the support of the props and teacher adjustments, you discover your own inner support and learn how to access this release on your own.
